BY THE NUMBERS
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
McFillin would lead the Pride in the second half, raining threes and dishing the ball to open players. The quarter would be close, with the teams trading points, but Widener would still led at half 39-24.
-
Robbins would sink two free throws to start the second half that would be her 1,000th points of her career. Mia would keep it going, but the Golden Wolves would also find success attacking the rim on drives and feeding the bigs inside. Kaitlyn Kearney and Ava Baer would close the quarter for the Pride hitting big shots and knocking down free throws as Widener would enter the fourth up 55-42.
-
The fourth quarter would not be kind to the Pride, as the team would only hit three shots in the entire period. The quarter would see a litany of turnovers for Widener, and worse yet Robbins and Lindsay Kutz would both foul out. Alvernia would make the most of this opportunity, storming back to force overtime after a 27-14 fourth quarter.
-
Ava Baer and Kimberly Casiello would star for the under-staffed Widener team in overtime, with Baer being a stalwart on defense and Casiello running the floor and knocking down shots. Kearney's three would extend the lead to 77-72, and Baer's free throws would essentially ice the game. A pair of Riley Stackhouse free throws would extend the lead as the 12-3 OT would lead to an 81-72 Widener win.
