Records Fall at Inaugural Paul Donahue Invitational for Holt and Nye of Women’s Track and Field

Holt takes down 800; Nye betters her own 1500

CHESTER, Pa. – The George A. Hansell Track saw two new Widener Women's Track and Field records at the inaugural Paul Donahue Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
 
TRACK
 
Maria Muzzarelli's speed placed her fifth in the 100-meter dash. Muzzarelli would clock in a 12.30 to earn a conference and regional standard. Kayla Robinson would follow close behind with a 12.68 to register a new personal best. Also earning conference cuts was Mariam Koita (12.76), Jayla Gore (13.00), and Olivia Giannella (13.28).
 
Muzzarelli continued her speed with a new personal best in the 200-meter dash with a 25.15. Muzzarelli's new time keeps her at second in the All-Time Top 10 list and 41st in the nation. Koita joined conference cut list with a 25.91 to lead five other Pride runners. Kelly Barr (26.91) followed while Emma (27.02), Erica Thomas (27.09) Olivia DeVito (27.52), and Carly Lownes (27.66) rounded out the pack. Schultz, Lownes, Thomas, and DeVito saw a new personal best.
 
The Barr grouping would continue their races in the 400-meter. Barr clocked in at a 58.28 taking a regional time standard. Schultz (1:01.83) led Lownes (1:01.91), DeVito (1:02.03), and Thomas (1:03.15). Schultz, Lownes, DeVito, and Thomas picked up their second personal best times.
 
In the 800-meter run, Donna Holt would down her own Widener record set in 2023. Holt's 2:14.77 marked a new personal best and school record by half a second. Gabby Nye also saw a time with a 2:20.96 to pick up a personal best as well. Holt's time places her first in the conference.
 
The elite 1500 would display another Widener record, this time from Nye. Nye would shatter her own record set in 2023 with a 4:36.90. Her time would move her into first in conference standings by three seconds.
 
In optimal running weather, Liz Egan's 5000-meter run time would clock a new personal best at a 17:46.11 and move her into second in the conference and all-time listing. Kathryn Long saw a personal best time 18:05.24 to move her into fifth in the conference and all-time list. Emily Rudolph shattered her personal best by nearly two minutes as she would clock in a 18:51.28. Shannon Pfeifer continued the trend with a 19:02.48. Chris Tran picked up a conference cut with a 19:26.95.
 
Elise Daniel and Theresa Kervick saw conference cuts in the 400-meter hurdles. Daniel clocked a 1:07.33 while Kervick saw a 1:08.81.
 
FIELD
 
Savannah Steger's pole vault mark would finish her fifth with a 3.30-meter height. Steger earned regional and conference marks.
 
Kayla Robinson bettered her Widener personal best to move into a tie for third in the all-time list with a 5.50-meter jump in the long jump. Kervick saw a personal best mark of a 4.93-meter distance.
 
Robinson's triple jump placed her second and moved into second on the all-time list with an 11.61-meter jump. She would see regional and conference standards once more.
 
Isabel Rodriguez took first in the hammer throw with a 53.08-meter throw. Rodriguez's throw places her third on the all-time list and first in the conference standings. Her throw marked her second personal best of the meet. Her first came in the discus where she marked a 34.06-meter distance to move into seventh in the conference rankings.
 
UP NEXT
Widener packs things up and heads to nearby for the annual Penn Relays. Competition is set to begin on Thursday, April 25 and run until Saturday, April 27. The Pride will also compete at the Lehigh Covert Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26.
