CHESTER, Pa. – Widener Men's Track and Field host inaugural Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University while seeing new season and personal best marks in preparations for postseason.
TRACK
Samuel Knowles continued his season marks in the 200-meter dash. Knowles would go on to take 12
th overall with a 22.13 to pick up a MAC qualification.
Josh Schreiner picked up a new personal best 22.74 with his race to also earn qualification status.
Brion McNear rounded out the qualifying times with a 23.32.
Knowles continued in the 400-meter dash where he took third with a 47.88. His 47.88 would be fast enough for conference cuts and a regional time standard. McNear, Schreiner,
Jonathan David, and
Derek Rudd also saw conference cuts. McNear led the grouping with a 51.13 while Scheiner (51.90), David (52.20), and Rudd (52.41) followed. David and Rudd picked up new personal bests with their times.
In the 1500-meter run, the Pride would see all four with new personal best times.
Isaiah Brewer led the four with a 4:22.81.
Auden Fitz (4:25.00),
James Plunkett (4:37.52), and Michael Greene (4:38.95) rounded the pack out.
Friday evening's 5000-meter run would feature a new personal best and top-10 time in Widener history by
Tom Flear. Flear clocked in at a 14:39.41 to take second overall.
Pat Carolan also saw a new personal best with a 14:40.91. The two would pick up regional qualifying times.
Michael Carolan (15:34.14),
Zachary Rementer (15:36.08),
Gavin Kelly (15:57.07), and
Ethan Ng (16:25.02) all picked up new personal bests in a fast running race.
David continued his personal best runs with a new time in the 400-meter hurdles. He would go on to clock a 56.60.
Joseph Nescio picked up a new personal best in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 9:47.66.
The quad of
Matayo McGraw,
Alex Stempin, McNear, and Knowles would clock in a new regional cut in the 4x100-meter relay. The team would pick up a second-place finish with a 43.08.
FIELD
McGraw took to the high jump where he placed seventh overall with a 1.92-meter height. His jump moves him into fourth in the all-time Widener standings.
In the long jump, Stempin and
Jacob Grossman would mark conference standards with a 6.32-meter and 6.07-meter jump.
The triple jump featured the indoor NCAA qualifier, McGraw, who would mark a 14.70-meter jump. His distance earned him a regional and conference standard.
Conrad Howell took second in the hammer throw where he threw a 52.54-meter distance to fall just shy of his personal best mark.
David Waters threw a 43.15-meter throw while
John Kodack marked a 41.53-meter distance. All three earned conference marks along with a regional cut for Howell.
UP NEXT
Widener packs things up and heads to nearby for the annual Penn Relays. Competition is set to begin on Thursday, April 25 and run until Saturday, April 27. The Pride will also compete at the Lehigh Covert Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26.
