CHESTER, Pa. – Cool temps on Friday night help
Gabby Nye of Widener Women's Track and Field surge to top times at the 2024 Danny Curran Invite.
TRACK
In the 200-meter dash,
Kayla Robinson returned with a final time of 26.34. Robinson opened her first meet with the Pride just shy of her personal best.
The 400-meter race would feature
Maria Muzzarelli,
Mariam Koita,
Olivia Giannella, and two more. Muzzarelli led the group with a second place and a 58.76 to pick up an AARTFC standard. Koita clocked a 59.77 while Giannella saw her first competition of the season with a 1:05.36.
Donna Holt saw a regional time standard with a 2:19.87 in the 800-meter run to continue her distance stint.
Kelly Barr would follow in a 2:25.02
Holt also took on the mile where she would lead in a 4:59.97, just breaking the five minute mark.
Gabby Nye saw action and a new All Time Top 10 run in the 10,000-meter on Friday night. Nye would run a 38.51.90 to earn a regional standard. Also picking up a standard was
Elizabeth Egan, who would clock a 40:13.04. Egan also snuck into the top 10 listing at tenth.
FIELD
Robinson transitioned to the field side where she would show off her multi skills in the high jump. Robinson marked a 1.47-meter jump. In the long jump she would take second with a 5.39-meter mark to earn a regional distance.
Savannah Steger opened her season with a 3.15-meter jump after attempting a 3.30-meter height.
Isabella Rodriquez saw action in the discus and hammer throw. In the discus event she would throw a 31.93-meter distance. After her 47.36-meter mark in the hammer throw, she took first to earn an AARTFC standard.
Jillian Walked picked up new personal bests in the discus (27.41-meters) and weight throw (28.00-meters) as well.

Widener returns next weekend for the Ursinus Track and Field Festival in Collegeville, Pa. The meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6.
