HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT
- Despite both teams struggling to find an early rhythm, Avalynn Baer got the first points for either side on a jumper. The Pride pulled ahead by a few points off of Albright turnovers before the home team hit a triple. The last Widener bucket of the initial 10 minutes was from a Kimberly Casiello steal. It turned into a Rachel Ludwig fastbreak layup on a Casiello assist. Widener led 13-8 after one.
- The Pride opened the second quarter by making defensive plays. Mary McFillin recorded a block not even 10 seconds in. The Lions went on a 7-0 run in this quarter, which was part of a 10-0 run that began at the end of the first quarter. The visitors countered with their own 9-0 push to go up 22-15. The two teams traded buckets in the back half of the quarter until a 5-0 run ended the half for Widener. McFillin ended the run on a triple with 11 seconds left. The Pride had a 30-21 advantage at the half.
- Robbins got the Pride offense going early in the second half. Even with Albright shots going in, she helped keep the lead to around 10 points. Neither side was able to get a long run in, but the end of the quarter saw a barrage of buckets. Six shots were made in the span of about 90 seconds, four of them belonging to Albright. The Pride got their points in this quarter without attempting a three-pointer. Through three, Widener was ahead 48-40.
- McFillin opened the final 10 minutes with a triple on a Jordan D'Ambrosio dime. It was the start of a 9-2 run for Widener. Even with the lead secured for the Pride, a 10-2 push by Albright forced a Pride timeout with 2:13 remaining. D'Ambrosio and Gianna Samuels finished the job at the free throw line. The Pride won 68-62.
