GLENSIDE, Pa. – Widener Women's Swimming close out travel meets with a tough defeat against Arcadia.
The 149-113 loss puts the Pride at 5-3 in the regular season and 2-2 in MAC standings.
Jenna Angelucci got things started for the Pride with a win in the 1000-yard free. Angelucci would clock a 11:59.73.
Sally Meyers and
Olivia Giambalvo took a 2-3 finish in the 200-yard free. Meyers would just miss first with her 2:02.99 while Giambalvo out touched for third in a 2:09.35.
Meyers picked up her first individual win in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:23.32 to win by nearly five seconds.
In the 50-yard free,
Lauren Kalsbeek snuck into first with a 25.88.
After the first break,
Sophia Sapnas led a 2-3 finish with first year
Caroline Anderson. Sapnas' 2:24.67 in the 200-yard back was followed with Anderson's 2:25.39.
The distance crew of Kalsbeek and Angelucci took a 1-2 win in the 500-yard free. Kalsbeek's second win of the day came on a 5:33.74. Angelucci held off a Knights' swimmer with a 5:51.21.
Meyers snagged her second win in the 100-yard butterfly as
Mary Sanders followed her for a second. Meyers took first in a 1:03.27 while Sanders finished a second later in 1:04.96.
A 2-3-4 in the 200-yard individual medley would close the individual racing for the Pride as Kalsbeek,
Anna Durboraw, and Shea Rane looked for final points. Kalsbeek just missed first with her 2:19.45. Durboraw hit in a 2:32.38 while Rane registered a 2:34.79.
The quad of Meyers,
Olivia Downs, Giambalvo, and Kalsbeek end the day racing with a 3:54.86 and a second in the 400-yard free relay.

Widener returns to the pool for the final time this regular season on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Pride will host Misericordia and Ramapo in a tri-meet with a 1 p.m. first splash and will honor their senior class pre-meet.
