ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Kristeller of Widener men's track and field named NCAA Division III Hammer Throw National Champion in final day of competition.
FRIDAY
Samuel Knowles took to the track in the 400-meter dash. Knowles would place 20
th with a 48.91. On the season, Knowles capped off with a trip to the NCAA Championships and a Widener school record.
First year
Jayla Gore sprinted her way to 19
th in the nation with a 12.17 in the 100-meter dash. Gore topped her season with an NCAA Championship appearance and numerous Widener school records.
Alden Littlefield would compete in the shot put but would not mark his attempts.
SATURDAY
In the hammer throw, the leading thrower in the nation
Alex Kristeller took to the circle along with
Alden Littlefield and
Justin Adams. Adams threw in the first flight while Kristeller and Littlefield threw in the second.
Adams marked a 56.44-meter toss on his first attempt. His other two attempts of 55.30-meters and 53.48-meters fell shy of his day best. On the year, Adams would finish 12
th in the nation.
Kristeller begun his day with a 57.24-meter throw which would be his shortest mark of the day. In six attempts, Kristeller saw a 63.64-meter throw in his fifth attempt which would better his third by .13-meters. His 63.64-meter mark would rank him first in the nation and he would go on to be named the 2023 National Champion.
Littlefield saw a personal best. In thrilling fashion Littlefield would be named the 2023 National Runner-Up. In his six attempts, Littlefield marked a new best of 60.07-meters by nearly two meters from the Widener Final Qualifier.
