Women’s Track and Field Take to AARTFC Championship Ahead of NCAA Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Widener women's track and field travel a handful to the AARTFC Championships in the final meet before selection weekend.
 
DAY 1
 
The Pride opened the meet in the 4x100 meter relay with the team of Maria Muzzarelli, Jayla Gore, Olivia Giannella, and Kelly Barr. The four ran a 49.25 to place 12th just ahead of the Scranton Royals.
 
Muzzarelli and Gore both headed to the finals in the 100-meter dash. In preliminaries, Muzzarelli clocked a 12.26 while Gore hit a 12.32.
 
Pole vaulter Savannah Steger marked a 3.25-meter jump after clearing a 3.10-meter jump.  
 
DAY 2
 
Barr opened day two of competition in the 400-meter dash. Barr clocked a 58.00.
 
Muzzarelli and Gore concluded their competition in the finals of the 100-meter dash. Muzzarelli came home with a 12.19 to better her preliminary time. Gore ran a 12.40 to place seventh.
 
Currently Gore ranks 25th in the nation with an 11.98 from the MAC Championships earlier this month. Muzzarelli also ranks 43rd with her 12.09 time from the MAC Championships.
 
Katelyn Bernotas took to the track in the 800-meter where she ran a 2:17.83 with a 1:05.68 400-meter split.
 
In the hammer throw, Isabel Rodriguez threw six attempts with her second being her best of the meet. Rodriguez marked a 51.28-meter throw to place fourth and set a new personal best.
 
Elise Daniel hurdled to a 1:04.57 in the 400-meter hurdles where she placed sixth.
 
In the heptathlon, Sydni Bell earned 3401 points.
 
UP NEXT
Widener will await selection to the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. This year's championships are set for May 25th and will take place in Rochester, N.Y.
