WEST CHESTER, Pa. – All Time Top 10 rankings become closer in sight as the Widener women's track and field team competed at the West Chester University Golden Rams Invitational.
Widener placed fifth with 78 team points out of eight schools.
TRACK
Jayla Gore and
Maria Muzzarelli break into the Widener All Time Top 10 list in the 100-meter dash as Gore clocks a 12.16 to rank second in Widener history while Muzzarelli clocks a 12.25 to rank third. Gore's time earned a new personal record and both earned MAC and AARTFC qualifications.
Olivia Giannella finished with a 13.71 and
Elise Daniel marked a 13.42 to each earn MAC qualifications.
Gore and Muzzarelli were back in the 200-meter dash as Muzzarelli took the charge with a 25.86 to put her tied for fifth in Widener rankings alongside Brittany Diehl from 2014. Gore (26.75),
Kelly Barr (27.20), and
Emma Schultz (27.56) would all earn MAC time standards for the upcoming championships in just under a month.
Barr would take home a gold in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.79 which earned a MAC and AARTFC standard.
Tara Ford ran a 1:02.74, her best of the season thus far, to earn a MAC qualification. Schultz would pick up her second qualification with a 1:03.92.
Katelyn Bernotas returned to the track in the 800-meter run stop the clock in 2:20.90 to earn a MAC and AARTFC standard. Her 2:20 time currently sits her in the top 10 of Widener All Time Top 10.
Gabby Nye would run a 2:26.10 to set a new personal best and earn a MAC outdoor standard.
Elizabeth Egan and
Emily Cooney paced to a 2-4 finish in the mile as Egan ran a 4:57.70 and new personal best. Cooney would see her season best with a 5:04.93. Each would earn a MAC time standard.
In the hurdle events,
Sydni Bell would compete in the 100-meter hurdles and place fourth with a 16.32. Bell's 16.32 earned her a MAC qualification.
FIELD
In the high jump,
Meredith Schroeder would see her season best with a jump of 1.41-meters.
Savannah Steger jumped her season best with a 3.20-meter mark in the pole vault. Schroeder and Steger each earned MAC qualifications.
Tia Furbush just missed her best mark in the long jump as she marked a 4.61-meter jump. Furbush grabbed a MAC qualification. Back in the triple jump, she hit a mark of 9.92-meters on her first attempt and took passes on the final four attempts. Her triple jump mark earned a qualification to the MAC Championships.
Isabel Rodriguez competed in the discus and hammer throw and walked away with a personal best in the discus with a mark of 33.52-meters. Her hammer throw mark of 43.00-meters would just miss her best mark but would rank her sixth in Widener history.
Sydney Altman topped her day with a 31.22-meter mark after fouling the first two attempts. Altman's throw set a new personal best. All three marks for the two would earn MAC qualifications.
