CHESTER, Pa. –
Elise Daniel capped her meet in the 400-meter hurdles to rank first in conference standings after her performance at the 2023 Danny Curran Invitational.
TRACK
Sophomore
Maria Muzzarelli led the charge in the 400-meter dash after running a 1:00.58 race. Teammates
Jayla Gore and
Olivia Giannella would run 1:03.28 and 1:04.36 respectively. All would earn MAC outdoor qualifications.
The 800-meter run was a stacked event for the Pride with 10 competing. Out of those 10, half would earn MAC qualifications after their races.
Donna Holt would lead the pack with a 2:22.68 while
Tara Ford rounded the pack with a 2:29.04. Sandwiched between was
Kelly Barr (2:25.28),
Jaden Sweely (2:25.95), and
Katelyn Bernotas (2:27.00).
The distance team continued their success in the 1500 where Sweely, Bernotas, and Holt would compete and earn qualifications in their first outdoor meet of the season. Sweely ran a 4:55.48 while Bernotas followed closely behind with a 4:56.84 and Holt clocked a 5:00.33.
All seven in the 10,000-meter run would earn MAC qualifications.
Gabby Nye would lead the charge with a 40:44.99.
Elizabeth Egan would follow with a 41:09.30 to set a new personal best.
Emily Cooney continued the trend of personal bests with one of her own after her 41:36.64.
Carly Gable would follow suit with a 41:42.77 as
Chris Tran and
Kathryn Long would do the same. Tran stopped the clock in 41:47.11 while Long would finish in 42:47.88.
Emily Rudolph rounded the group with a 45:11.08.
In the hurdle events,
Sydni Bell in the 100-meter hurdles would set a new personal best with a 16.61 second time.
Elise Daniel would compete in the 400-meter hurdles and end up ranking first in the conference with a 1:08.72.
FIELD
Senior
Savannah Steger opened her final outdoor meet in the pole vault where she jumped a mark of 3.25-meters. Steger earned qualifications to the MAC outdoor meet and the AARTFC meet at the end of the season. She currently ranks second in conference standings.
In the long jump,
Tia Furbush set a new personal best with a 4.83-meter throw. Furbush would earn a MAC qualification from her throw.
First year
Isabel Rodriguez threw in the discuss where she hit a mark of 31.94-meters and a MAC qualification. Her final event was the hammer throw. She capped off her meet with a new personal best with a 44.52-meter throw. Teammate
Sydney Altman also hit a personal best with a 30.94-meter throw. Both would earn MAC qualifications while Rodriguez also earned an AARTFC standard.

Widener will return to the track and field on Saturday, April 8th to compete in the West Chester Golden Rams Invitational. Start time is to be determined.
