Tom Flear have been named to the Fall 2022 Academic All-MAC Team, as announced by the conference office and voted on by the athletic communication departments by the 18 institutions in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
The threewere among seven Widener student-athletes to make the Academic All-MAC team for the most-recent fall semester. Flear, a Mullica Hill, N.J. native, Millar, a Ocean City, N.J. native, and Carolan, a Philadelphia, Pa. native, join a group of student-athletes who have formed this list since 2013. This marks Carolan's second consecutive season as a recipient of this honor.
Both earned this honor because of a great season on the track and a great semester in the classroom.
At the 2022 MAC Championship's 8k on Oct. 29, the three cracked the top 10 in individual performances. Carolan finished fifth with a time of 25:33.5. Flear finished just ahead of his teammate, as he placed fourth with a time of 25:31.8 and Millar followed with a 25.50.8. At the NCAA Metro Regional Championships a few weeks later on Nov. 12, Flear finished 21
st in the 8k with a time of 26:36. Millar split the two with a 33st place finish and ran a 26.31.1. Carolan placed 40
th and earned a time of 27:05.
As a team, the Pride came in third place out of 16 at the MAC Championships. Widener placed ninth out of 25 at the NCAA Metro Regional Championships.
Carolan also earned MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Flear got it in 2021. Millar earned his academic accomplishment in 2021 and 2022.
Carolan is majoring in secondary education, while Flear is a civil engineering major. Millar is currenlty studying pre-medicine and psychology.
