CHESTER, Pa. – The final meet of 2023 for Widener Men's Swimming ends in a close win over Washington College.
The close 105-98 win advances the Pride to 5-1 in the regular season extending them to a two win streak.
Shane Douthit,
Dan Jackson,
Matthew Niro, and Jaydn Manning open the meet with a 1:36.00 win in the 200-yard medley relay.
Distance specialist
Jason Mongiovi took first in the 1000-yard free with a 10:24.75 and new season best.
Dan Jackson added a win in the 200-yard freestyle winning by two seconds in a 1:45.87.
Manning led a 1-2 finish in the 50 free with
Joshua Cunningham grabbing second. Manning registered a 21.89 while Cunningham hit in 22.48.
Niro led another 1-2 charge along with Cunningham in the 100-yard butterfly. Niro would finish with a 53.10. Cunningham saw a 53.64 to come just shy of his season best from a couple weeks prior.
Douthit would come from behind to out touch for a win in the 100-yard free in a 48.24.
Mongiovi added his second individual win in the 500-yard free as he registered a 5:00.98.
The B relay would see some points in the final relay.
Isaiah Moreef,
Jonathan Bell,
Sean Hourican, and
Gavin Franklin would see a second place in the 200-yard free relay with a 1:42.17.
