FREDERICK, Md. – Top times in the conference gave Widener Women's Swimming a split against Hood and Messiah on the road.
In the meet against Hood, the Pride stormed through the meet with a final score of 187-66. Against Messiah, the Pride fell 165-95.
Lauren Kalsbeek opened things for the Pride in the 1000-yard freestyle as she took the top time in the conference and a first-place finish with a 11:10.72. Kalsbeek's time would win by over 30 seconds.
A few events later,
Sophia Sapnas,
Kylie Rodi, and
Caroline Anderson took a 2-3-4 finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Sapnas clocked a 1:06.17 while Rodi finished close behind with a 1:06.56. Anderson rounded out the trio with a 1:06.71.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Sally Meyers and
Kaitlyn Fahy added a 2-3 finish. Meyers would come in first with a 2:22.88 while Fahy hit in a 2:31.74.
Out of the break, Kalsbeek added her second individual win in the 100-yard free with a 56.36.
The backstroke specialists added another 2-3-4 finish in the 200 with Rodi leading the group with a 2:21.52.
Jenna Angelucci would clock a 2:23.71 and Sapnas would finish two seconds later with a 2:25.27.
The distance group of Meyers and
Olivia Giambalvo took a 2-3 as the two swam a 5:39.48 and 6:05.75 respectively.
In the last individual race of the meet, Kalsbeek grabbed her third win with a 2:19.23 in the 200-yard individual medley.
The quad of Sapnas, Meyers, Giambalvo, and Kalsbeek picked up a second in the 200-yard free relay to just get out touched by the Falcons.
