READING, Pa. –
Connor Heisman tied the school record in assists in a game with nine and scored four goals while leading the Widener men's lacrosse team to a 21-7 victory over Albright on Wednesday night at Albright College.
With the win, the Pride improved to 5-6 on the season and 3-1 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Blue and Gold have won three straight games and four of their last five.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALBRIGHT
- Heisman had himself a day, totaling a career-high 13 points, thanks to his record-tying performance in assists. The senior attack tied the mark set by both Steve Littlewood and Justin Jones. Jones did it three times (twice in 1998 and once in 1999), while Littlewood matched the mark in 2003. Heisman had six of his nine assists in the second half.
- In addition to being a distributor, Heisman fired in three of his four goals in the first half to help the Pride take a 10-2 halftime lead. By doing so, he registered his 25th career game in which he had scored three or more goals. Heisman also tied for the team-lead in ground balls with four.
- Michael Tagliaferri, Mike Kala'I, and Bryant Maits each recorded a hat trick for Widener in the win. Jayce Dyer and Colin Wingate added two goals apiece for the Pride.
- Defensively, Keegan Billie made 12 saves in 45 minutes of action before giving way to Andrew Spencer and Connor Powell, who combined for three saves to finish out the game. Adam Oldrati paced won 15-of-22 face-offs.
