CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's volleyball team put up a fight against Messiah, but the Falcons found a way to win in four sets, 25-11, 25-18, 18-25, 25-10, in their MAC match on Wednesday night at Schwartz Athletic Center.
With the loss, the Pride dropped to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in MAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MESSIAH
- After dropping the first two sets, the Pride managed to top the Falcons in the third set. Holding a 19-18 lead, the Pride scored the game's final six points on three aces from Carter Tran, one kill from Matthew Christ, one kill from Declan Quinn, and one attack error on Messiah.
- However, the Falcons bounced back in the fourth set by winning by 15 to take the match.
- Christ led the Pride with 10 kills, while Josh Matchett handed out 20 assists and Tran paced the team with five aces.
- Cole Nagle paced Widener on the defensive side with a game-high 11 digs.
UP NEXT
Widener will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Reading, Pa. to face Alvernia and Lancaster Bible in a tri-match. The Pride will face Alvernia in a MAC matchup at 11 a.m., then will take on Lancaster Bible at 1 p.m.
