OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Widener men's volleyball team played tough against Stevenson, but came up short in its attempt to win its first road match, losing in straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-20, on Saturday afternoon at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
This loss now puts the Pride 3-6 for the season and 0-3 in MAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STEVENSON
- The Pride struggled to find its pace in the first two sets, but the third set was where they got their footing by taking a 15-12 lead midway through it. However, the Mustangs went on a 13-5 run to take the match.
- Matthew Christ led the Pride in kills with 11, eight of which came in the final set. Michael Martino added five and Carter Tran had four kills for the Pride offense.
- Josh Matchett tallied 21 assists on the day. The junior setter is ranked seventh in the MAC in assists with 232.
- Defensively, Matchett also led the Blue and Gold in digs with 10.

The Pride will be on the road again, this time competing in a tri-match against Misericordia and Wilkes on Friday, March 4 at Wilkes. Widener will face Misericordia in its first match at 6 p.m., then will take on Wilkes at 8 p.m.
