CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener University women's volleyball team competed in a pair of matches against Stockton and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday at Schwartz Athletic Center, falling to Stockton in three sets, but came back and defeated U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in four sets.
After dropping a 25-20, 25-14, 25-21 contest to Stockton, the Pride came away with a 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18 victory over Merchant Marine.
The Pride are now 9-11 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST USMMA
- The Pride breezed through the first two sets, winning them 25-19 and 25-16. The Pride put on a dominant display on offense, as they had 34 kills compared to USMMA's 15 kills in the first two games.
- After USMMA won the third set, the Pride took the fourth and final set after by going on a 10-5 run to close it out.
- Junior setter Megan Barthol tallied a new career high in assists with 51. She is ranked fifth in the MAC for assists.
- The Pride offense had 60 kills compared to the Mariner's 35 with Lilyanna Martucci leading the match with 14 kills. Abigail Herrin had 13 kills and Emily Miller had 11.
- Off the serve, Shelby Motz tallied five aces.
- Defensively, Rachel DiCarlo had 22 digs for the Blue and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST STOCKTON
- The Pride hung tough in each of the three sets, trailing by only a few points. The Pride held a 10-7 lead in the third set before Stockton rallied to win the match.
- Martucci led the Blue and Gold offense with eight kills and Barthol had 28 assists.
- Defensively, DiCarlo tallied 11 digs and Barthol followed her with 10 digs.

Widener will travel to face Gwynedd Mercy in a non-conference match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
