Anna Cooney of the Widener University women's track & field team earned All-America honors in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships from the Irwin Belk Track Complex on the campus of North Carolina A&T University on Saturday morning.Â
She turned in a fifth place finish for her first All-America accolade. It is the highest placement for a Widener women's team member since Erica Szpynda in 2014, who also finished fifth in the shot put.Â
Cooney entered her fifth throw with a high mark of 13.77 meters, which was seventh before her personal best toss of 14.24 meters vaulted her forward two spots.Â
She also turned in a 16th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.56 meters.Â
