GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Widener University women's track and field team competed in Rowan's Last Chance Meet on Thursday, picking up three top-three finishes on the day.
Anna Cooney secured gold in the hammer throw with her 49.04 meter heave. Cooney has won the hammer throw in five out of six meets she has recorded a mark in this season. The win represents her 10th first place finish in a throwing event this spring as she also recorded top marks in five shot put events.
Almost two weeks after taking bronze in the 800 meters at the MAC Championships,
Maia Semmes grabbed silver in the event with a time of 2:25.56.
Angelica Howell led the way in the sprints with a third place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 26.60 seconds.
Widener now waits to see which members of the team will be selected to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C on May 27-29.
