LEBANON, Pa. - The Widener University men's golf team began its run at the MAC Commonwealth Championship on Saturday. Three player rounds are final while two players still need to complete the 17th and 18th holes. 

Matt Verni leads the Pride after day one, posting an 87. After shooting +10 on the front nine, he went +5 after the turn including a closing stretch that saw him birdie 16 before connecting for par on the final two holes. 

Kenny Berkoff also went -1 on the final three holes of the day on his way to a 92. Jackson Prater shot a 93. 

Jeremy Christ and Billy Rodgers will complete their first rounds in the morning. 

Round two is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
