CHESTER, Pa. –  The Widener university women's track and field team hosted its third MAC Only Meet of the season on Sunday, April 18.
Anna Cooney won the hammer throw and shot put. Her distance of 52.46 meters in the hammer leads the MAC and ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division III. She took first in the shot put with a distance of 12.57 meters. She also secured second in the discus with a toss of 33.56 meters.
Jackie Guht finished right behind Cooney in the shot put with a throw of 10.07 meters while
Rachel Parr's toss of 28.17 meters took third in the discus. In the javelin,
Theresa Kervick finished second at 25.41 meters. In the jumps, Kervick won the high jump with a height of 1.36 meters. In the pole vault,
Darby Reiss and
Hailey Welchans both logged heights of 2.90 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of
Jaden Sweely,
Maia Semmes,
Donna Holt, and
Angelica Howell grabbed first with a combined time of 4:18.29.
Howell also led the way in the sprints, finishing first in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.76. In the 100 meter hurdles,
Magdalyn McGlyn and Kervick finished second and third with times of 18.19 and 19.02 seconds, respectively.
The Pride secured two top-three finishes in the mid-distance and distance events. In the 5000 meters,
Emily Hoegler took the top spot with a time of 19:36.29. In the 1500 meters,
Carly Gable placed third, crossing the finish line in 4:57.62.
Widener returns to action when it hosts its fourth and final MAC Only Meet on Saturday, April 24.
