CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University baseball team used a six-run eighth inning in game to in order to forge a split of a doubleheader against the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen, winning the second contest 9-7. LVC took the opener 5-2.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Kyle Brex led the offense with five hits on the afternoon, driving in two runs, and scoring three times.
- Brandon Reis had three hits in game two.
- Anthony Boccio posted three hits between the two games and drove in three runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME ONE
- Things started well for the Pride who scored in the first as Bryce Fremgen lifted a sac fly to score Brex who had singled and moved to third on a double from Boccio.
- LVC drew even with one in the second and took the lead, scoring four times in the fifth.
- Widener cemented the final score in the sixth as Brex doubled, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored on a sac fly from Boccio.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME TWO
- Trailing 5-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth, the Pride send 11 batters to the plate and scored all of its runs with two out.
- Keying the inning were a two-run single from Brex and RBI base hits from Boccio and Fremgen.
- For the second straight game, the Pride hot on the board first as Reis delivered an RBI single, scoring Boccio who singled with two out.
- Lebanon Valley scored four times in the second before WU came back with two of its own on as Tommy McParland was hit by a pitch, moved up on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, a Boccio groundout plated Greg Elfreth, who singled earlier in the frame.
- LVC made it interesting in the ninth, scoring twice before Jake Good came in and closed the door for his fourth save.

The second doubleheader between the Pride and Dutchmen, originally scheduled for Sunday, is postponed due to expected inclement weather. The two teams will announce a makeup date soon.. Â
