- That run opened the floodgates for Widener to score eight times in the inning. After a pitching change, Brex walked to reload the bases for Anthony Boccio who cracked a two-run double down the rightfield line, while moving Brex to third.
- After a walk to Fremgen, a sac fly from Barenz scored Brex. Tommy McParland was hit by a pitch bringing up Reis. The senior cleared the bases with a double, extending the advantage to 8-0.
- The run support was more than enough for Joey Zettlemoyer who turned in another fine performance, allowing one run on two hits in five innings.
