Men’s Soccer Earns Senior Day Shutout Victory Against York

Pride sends off seniors with first win in season finale since 2009

CHESTER, Pa. - The Widener men's soccer team received goals from Stefano Turano, Sean Fatiga, Nick Brison, and Monsif Atify en route to posting a 4-0 shutout victory over York on Senior Night on Saturday at Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium.

The Pride honored six seniors — Brison, Tife Akin-Akintunde, Erik Holmstrom, Vinnie Nocito, Brandon Rudy, and Mo Al Turab, — for their efforts over the last four seasons for the program during a pregame ceremony.

The Pride went on to send off these seniors with the victory, which was the Blue and Gold's first win in a season finale since 2009. The Pride finished the season with an 8-9 record and 3-5 mark in MAC Commonwealth play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK
  • Turano got the Pride on the scoreboard quickly, scoring 1:37 into the action off a Fatiga assist.
  • In the 17th minute, Fatiga found the back of the net for his 16th goal of the year off a pass from Atify. Fatiga's 16 goals are the most by a Widener player in a season.
