CHESTER, Pa. - In its second major tournament of the year, the Widener University Esports team improved on its previous week performance, going 6-2 record and advancing to the eighth round of the Collegiate Rocket League Qualifier #2 on Sunday.Â

For a second straight week, the Pride earned a first round bye before dispatching Xavier University Silver 5-1, 7-1 in its opening match. Following a touch 2-1 setback against UCF White in the third round, the Blue and Gold rebounded, downing Illinois Tech 2-0 in the fourth round and then split the first two games with West Alabama before coming up with a 4-1 triumph in the deciding contest to advance.Â
A 2-1 win against UNC Wilmington and a 2-0 victory against University of Cincinnati Black moved the Pride into round eight. Against Michigan Tech, Widener fell 3-2 in the first game before rebounding for a 4-2 win in the second contest. In a tight third game, the Huskies prevailed with a 3-1 win, ending the run for the Blue and Gold.Â
