GRANTHAM, Pa. –
Devan Rimmer scored a team-high 19 points, but the Widener University women's basketball team fell to the Messiah Falcons 69-53 on Friday night.
GAME NOTES
- Erin Phelan was also in double figures, netting 14 to go along with seven rebounds.
- Kyra Schenk followed her career-high rebounding total from Saturday with 10 more against Messiah. She is now averaging 11.0 boards an outing in her last four games.
- Nicole Barnes had a team leading six assists to go along with six rebounds and a block.
- Widener outrebounded its opponent for the third straight game, but struggled to hold on to the ball, committing 20 turnovers to just 10 for the Falcons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Messiah got out to an early lead in the contest, scoring the first five points of the game as the Pride went 3-for-11 from the floor in the opening 10 minutes. The Blue and Gold battled back with 19 second half points, but trailed 38-28 at halftime.
In the second half, the Falcons were just a shade better than the Pride in each quarter, outscoring WU by three each time, inching away to cement the final score.
