CHESTER, Pa. – Keeping an opponent under 30 points for the first time in nearly 25 years, the Widener University women's basketball team picked up its 17th win of the season with a 70-29 MAC Commonwealth win against the Alvernia Golden Wolves on Saturday, February 2.

BY THE NUMBERS
- It was the first time Widener allowed 30 points or less since November 29, 1995 when it beat Cedar Crest 58-25.
- WU surrendered just nine field goals and 17.0 percent shooting in the game, both the lowest total allowed since prior to the 2005-06 season.
- Devan Rimmer paced the Pride with 15 points. Joining her in double figures was Mackenzie McCracken, netting 12.
- Draining a pair of three-pointers each were Natalie Galle, Olivia Pennypacker, and Helena Salmon.
- 10 different players found the scoring column for Widener.
- The Pride cleared 51 board in the game, the fifth time this season it hauled in at least 50 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Behind seven points from McCracken, the Pride opened a 9-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest. As a team, WU shot 3-for-4 while the Golden Wolves were 0-for-4 during the beginning run. Widener continued to play strong defense, holding AU to 1-for-12 shooting in the period, on its way to an 18-3 lead after 10 minutes.
- To start the second, the Blue and Gold netted 12 of the first 14 points, building its lead to 30-5. Methodically moving its way through the frame, the Pride took a 40-11 lead into halftime.
- Widener continued its relentless defense and consistent offense during the final 20 minutes of the game to seal the victory.

Widener is on its bye week from conference play and will not take the floor again until Saturday, February 9 when it will take on Stevenson for Senior Day. Tipoff from the Schwartz Center is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
