YORK, Pa. – Dylan Peiffer gave the Widener University baseball team 7.1 strong innings on Friday, but the fourth-seeded Pride fell to the No. 2 Arcadia Knights 5-2 in the MAC Commonwealth Championship on Friday morning.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Peiffer went 7.1 innings allowing two earned runs, striking out five.
• Nick D'Alessandro and Brennan Taylor each had a hit and an RBI.
• Mike Garofolo and Chandler Liero scored for the Blue and Gold.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Widener got on the board first in the opening inning as Garofolo was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a passed ball before a single from D'Alessandro brought him across the plate.
• After Arcadia tied it in the bottom of the frame, the Pride scored again in the second. With one out, Liero singled, followed by a double from Taylor that made it 2-1.
• The game remained that way until the fifth when the Knights posted a pair of unearned runs. Arcadia put the game away with two insurance tallies in the eighth.

 
UP NEXT
Widener will play an elimination game against the winner between No. 1 Alvernia and No. 3 Hood on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the championship on Saturday where it will have to win twice to take the title.
