CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University volleyball team gave a strong Fontbonne squad all it could handle, but the Pride fell to the Griffins 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

FIRST SET NOTES (Fontbonne 25, Widener 16)
- Widener stayed in the set early, keeping it within three points before the Griffins took a 16-11 lead.
- After a Cacciatore Kill pulled the Pride to 18-14, Fontbonne scored seven of the final nine points to claim the set.
- Sungenis led the way with four kills.

SECOND SET NOTES (Fontbonne 25, Widener 22)
- The Griffins opened up an early 12-7 lead as they looked to be ready to take a quick set.
- Trailing 21-15 the teams traded points until Fontbonne went up 24-18. Widener fought off four set points before a setting error ended the frame.
- As a team, the Blue and Gold hit .375 for the set with 14 kills and only two errors in 32 total attacks.
- Cacciatore went 6-for-12 in the stanza and did not commit an error. Kyle Minder was perfect on three attempts.

THIRD SET NOTES (Fontbonne 25, Widener 22)
- Fontbonne got off to a hot start and pushed out to an 18-10 lead.
- Following a Widener timeout, the Pride responded, using a 6-1 run to pull to 19-16.
- The Griffins regained composure and took things to 24-20. The Pride fought off two match points before the final point of the contest.

Widener is back in action next on Saturday, March 31 when it will take part in the York (N.Y.) Tri-Match. The Pride will play Medgar Evars at noon and the host Cardinals at 2:00 p.m.
