CHESTER, Pa. – The Widener University men's volleyball team rallied from an early deficit, but was downed 3-1 by the Misericordia Cougars in a Middle Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Billy Barclay filled the stat sheet with 28 assists, three kills, four digs, and two service aces.
- A.J. Sungenis topped the Pride with 16 kills and hit .225. He just missed out on his second straight double-double, recording nine digs.
- Wil Cacciatore had 10 digs and contributed seven kills.

FIRST SET NOTES (Misericordia 25, Widener 15)
- The Cougars opened the set well, building a 9-5 lead and maintained the advantage before a closing 4-0 run gave them the set win.
- Sungenis led the way with three kills. Kyle Minder added two.

SECOND SET NOTES (Misericordia 25, Widener 18)
- The Pride raced out to a quick 5-1 lead and held an 11-9 advantage before Misericordia used a 10-2 run to go up 19-13.
- Down 24-17, Widener fought off a pair of set points before an attack error gave the Cougars the 25th point.

THIRD SET NOTES (Widener 25, Misericordia 22)
- The Blue and Gold started the set well, opening a 5-3 edge before five straight for Misericordia put the visitors on top.
- Widener battled back, scoring six of the next eight points to take an 11-10 lead.
- Tied 14-14, the Pride used a quick 4-0 run to regain the advantage, only to see the Cougars use a 6-1 run of their own to go up 20-19.
- The home team settled, scoring six of the final eight points to win the frame.
- As a team, Widener hit .258 in the set, led by seven kills from Sungenis.

FOURTH SET NOTES (Misericordia 25, Widener 22)
- Misericordia took the early advantage, going up 9-5. The Pride responded, scoring four straight to cut the lead to a single point.
- Neither squad held more than a three point lead from there through the middle of the set before the Cougars went on top 19-15 thanks to a 4-0 spurt.
- Widener fought off four match points thanks in part to a kill and two aces by Matt Blaum.
