CHESTER, Pa. –
Devan Rimmer netted 22 points and
Madison Ireland added 21 points in a 77-73 double overtime victory against the Stevenson University Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center.
Highlights:
- In addition to her 21 points, Ireland also dished out eight assists and pulled down seven rebounds.
- Allison Gallagher scored 13 points and had four rebounds.
- Kyra Schenk led all players and matched a career-high with 15 rebounds.
- As a team, Widener shot 74.1 percent from behind the line.
FIRST QUARTER NOTES
- Widener got the early jump with an 11-4 run and went ahead by as many as seven when Schenk and Tatiana Pleasant each connected on back-to-back lay ups.
- The tables turned in the final two minutes as Stevenson took the lead and ended the first 10 minutes up 18-16.
SECOND QUARTER NOTES
- The Pride regained its lead with a two-pointer from Rimmer, however, the Mustangs answered seconds later to put themselves up 22-21 with a jumper inside the paint out of the hands of Imani Sanders.
- Both teams continued to trade baskets until the very last second when a layup from Jonyae Curry gave the Mustangs a two point edge heading into the locker rooms.
THIRD QUARTER NOTES
- Down by one, Ireland and Emily Hardy combined for five points to create a four-point gap between them and the visitors with 1:43 remaining.
- The Mustangs, however, did not back down as they matched Rimmer's 3-pointer with one of their to tie the game up once again.
- Ireland found her momentum in the third quarter knocking down 2-of-3 3-pointers and scoring a total of eight points.
FOURTH QUARTER NOTES
- The visitors jumped ahead by as many as seven on two occasions, until a 6-0 run and a Rimmer 3-pointer in the waning seconds knotted the game at 62s to send the game into overtime.
OVERTIME PERIOD 1 NOTES
- Just when Widener was about to walk off with the victory, Denia Campbell took a chance and it paid off as she sent the game into a second over-time period with a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
OVERTIME PERIOD 2 NOTES
- Widener held the lead the entire period and jumped ahead by as many as four with two charity shots from Ireland to give them a 77-73 victory.

Widener will return to action when they travel to Mechanicsburg, Pa. to take on the nationally-ranked Messiah College Falcons. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m.
