Elijah Boyd scored 16 points, but the Widener University men's basketball team fell to the Arcadia Knights 79-57 in a MAC Commonwealth contest.

After an even first five minutes, the Pride went cold from the floor as Arcadia heated up, going on a 10-0 run to take a 16-7 lead at the 11:17 mark. Widener came back, chopping the lead to 21-16 before the Knights used an extended spurt to take a 42-23 halftime advantage.

Widener came out with the jump in the second half as following Arcadia scoring the first basket, the Pride tallied 14 of the next 19 points, hitting 3-of-4 from distance, slicing the lead to 49-37 seven minutes into the frame. After the Knights reestablished their lead, the Pride continued to battle, trading baskets until the final buzzer.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Elijah Boyd led Widener with 16 points, hitting 3-of-5 shots from three-point range. It was his ninth game this season with 10 or more points.
- Sardayah Sambo and Ryan McMahon contributed with eight points and seven rebounds each.

FIRST HALF NOTES
- The Pride and Knights traded baskets for the first five minutes of the game with Widener taking a 7-6 lead on a Jared Peters three-pointer. Arcadia followed with a 10-0 run as the Blue and Gold went 0-for-4 from the field during a 3:37 stretch to take a 16-7 lead with 11:17 to go.
- Widener battled back, scoring nine of the next 14 points, the last four of them on a pair of Ryan McMahon layups to chop the edge to 21-16 with just less than nine minutes remaining.
- Arcadia responded, using a 21-5 run to take a 42-23 lead into the half.
- Peters led the Pride with six points in the half on 2-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc.

SECOND HALF NOTES
- Following an Arcadia layup to open the scoring, Widener scored nine points in a row, eight of them from Boyd, denting the Knights' lead.
- The two teams traded baskets through the end of the game to cement the final.
- Boyd scored 14 of his 16 points in the final 20 minutes.
