CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2016) – Senior
Ian Gaynor (Donegal, Ireland) factored into four first-place finishes to help propel the Widener University men's swimming team to a jaw-dropping 222-21 victory over Stevenson in the opening dual meet of the season for both schools on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center. Widener captured gold in all 14 events to secure the convincing win.
Gaynor, a returning NCAA Division III All-American, won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.54 seconds and the 200 free in 1:46.98 to lead the way for the Pride. He also anchored the 200-yard medley relay which touched the wall in 1:40.70 to start the meet as well as the 200 free relay which notched a time of 1:31.40 to end the day on a high note.

Evan Perkowski (Waynesboro, Pa.), sophomore
Aaron Green (Camden-Wyoming, Del.) and freshman
Porter Luksic (Shavertown, Pa.) also won two individual events to secure the win for the hosts. Perkowski won the 500 and 1,000 free events, while Green captured the 100 back and 100 fly and Luksic took the 100 and 200 breast.
Widener (1-0, MAC 1-0) will next host Misericordia on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 a.m. during Homecoming Weekend.
