CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2016) – Senior
Ian Gaynor (Donegal, Ireland) earned four first-place finishes in individual and relay events to propel the Widener University men's swimming team to a 167-89 victory over Misericordia on Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center.
Gaynor started the day on a high note by anchoring the 200-yard medley relay squad to a first-place finish in 1:38.29. He then won the 50 and 100 free events in times of 21.01 and 46.41 seconds, respectively, before concluding the meet as a member of the 400 free relay which touched the wall in 3:12.79. Senior
Mike Grajek (Freehold, N.J.) and sophomore
Aaron Green (Camden-Wyoming, Del.) also joined Gaynor on each of the relays.
Another notable contributor to the Pride's dual meet win was
Sam Smith (Columbus, Ohio). The sophomore won the 500 free in 5:10.14 as well as the 1,000 free by notching a mark of 10:36.07.
Widener (2-0, MAC 2-0) will have the next week off and return to action to host Albright on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
