Women's Indoor Track & Field Defeats DeSales in Home Dual Meet

Women's indoor track and field defeated DeSales at the Schwartz Center Fieldhouse, 79-55, on Saturday.

The Pride won two of the three relays on their way to victory over the Bulldogs. The 4x400 meter relay comprised of senior Brittany Diehl (Havertown, Pa), juniors Gwendolynne Davis (Pottstown, Pa), Shakeira Fowler (Philadelphia, Pa), and freshman Teresa Giangiulio (Havertown, Pa) finished with a time of 4:50.27.

Diehl and Fowler teamed up with freshman Danaishia Forney (Clarsville, TN) and Kaylynne Timmons (Clayton, NJ) for a victory in the 4x160. The relay recorded a time 1:26.81.

Timmons added an individual victory in the 55-meter dash. She recorded a time of 7.55 seconds for a first place finish.

Seniors Emily Creighton (Springfield, Pa) and Erica Trofa (Upper Chichester, Pa) and junior Shae Spice (Burlington, NJ) each an individual event. Creighton won the 800-meter race in a time of 2:38.72, while Trofa finished the mile with a time of 5:42.19. Spicer earned the victory in the 3000-meter race with a time of 12:02.74.

Emily Meade (Nazareth, Pa) won the high jump and the long jump. In the high jump, the freshman finished with a clearance of 1.50 meters (4'-11"). In the long jump, she recorded a jump of 4.59 meters (15'-0.75").

Widener will be back in action on Friday at the Collegeville Classic in Collegeville, Pa at 4:00 pm.
