Softball Splits Final Two Games of Its Florida Trip

(Beloit) / (Aurora)

Widener played in its final two games of the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, taking the first game over Beloit 3-1 before dropping the second to Aurora 9-5.

Against Beloit, the Pride (3-3) won 3-1. Senior catcher Shelby Mackintosh (Lumberton, NJ) went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and a run scored. Fellow senior, shortstop Casey Hargadon (Wallingford, PA), also hit 2-for-3 and scored once.  Junior Jackie Korang  (Delran, NJ) pitched the full seven innings and notched her second win of the season, sacrificing just one base on balls.

In game two Widener took a 9-5 loss against Aurora. Freshman Alie Alkins (Aston, PA) hit .500 in the game, going 2-for-4 with one RBI. Mackintosh hit 2-for-3 and junior Liz Carpino (Philadelphia, PA) pitched two innings to receive the loss.

Widener leaves Florida with a .500 record and will return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 13, for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader at Elizabethtown beginning at 2:30 pm.
