Men's Basketball Drops Hard-Fought Game, 78-74, to Albright

Widener fell to Albright 78-74 in a Commonwealth Conference nail-biter at the Schwartz Center on Saturday afternoon.

Widener (6-3, 1-2 CC) held its largest lead after freshman Kendall Green (Mount Laurel, NJ) made a 3-pointer with 4:58 left in the first half for a 30-22 cushion. Green finished with six points on 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.

At halftime, Widener held a 33-30 lead over Albright (3-4, 2-2).

The second half went back-and-forth as the lead changed hands five times. With the scored tied at 74 and 13 seconds remaining, it was Albright who capitalized on its opportunity. Kyle Jordan gathered a rebound and drove the ball end to end for the game-winning layup to hand the Pride their second conference loss of the season.

Entering into the game junior Greg Lawson (Mount Holly, NJ) ranked first in the nation with 109 rebounds and third with 13.5 rebounds per game. Offensively, Lawson is averaging 15.6 points and leads the conference with a .692 field goal percentage. In the Albright matchup, Lawson recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 boards to lead the Pride in both categories.

Against the Lions, the Pride welcomed back senior co-captain Andrew Radomicki (Media, PA) after two weeks on the sidelines. Radomicki fell right back in the mix by scoring seven points and dishing out an assist.

Co-captain Bob Makor (Philadelphia, PA) was second the team with seven rebounds, and third co-captain Rob McPherson (Bowie, MD) recorded seven points, four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Producing his best offensive game of the season, sophomore David Nicholson (Odenton, MD) came off the bench to score 10 points on 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Fellow sophomore Laron Byrd (Philadelphia, PA) scored 13 points, dished out two assists, and defensively added five rebounds against the Lions.

Junior guard Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) dished a season-best six assists to go along with six points and five rebounds. Fellow junior Mark Pryzbylkowski (New Egypt, NJ) came off the bench to add eight points, one assist and one block.

Sam Marrella poured in 18 points and Jordan added 16 and 11 rebounds for the Lions.

Widener will rest for two weeks before returning to the Schwartz Center on December 30 against cross-county rival Swarthmore at 7:00 pm.
