Women's Basketball Rolls to 78-60 Triumph Over Swarthmore

(box score)

The incomparable Jen Egee (Ridley Park, PA) continued her hot hand with a career-high 29 points and tied her personal best with six 3-pointers, leading Widener to a 78-60 victory over Swarthmore at Schwartz Center.

Egee has had an immaculate senior campaign to date and continued it tonight, shooting 10-of-17 from the floor and grabbing six rebounds over 34 minutes. Her point total bests her 27 from last Saturday vs. No. 24 Lebanon Valley and her 3-pointers equals her mark from December 1, 2012 at LVC.

Egee easily leads the Commonwealth Conference with 20.4 points per game and is third with 2.8 three-pointers per contest.

Widener (4-3) had this in hand early on, opening the contest with a 17-6 run over 5 1/2 minutes with Egee scoring 11 points that included three baskets from beyond the arc.

Egee, who scored 19 in the first half Saturday, ended the opening stanza tonight with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and four 3-pointers. The Pride shot 53 percent (18-of-34) from the field and held the Garnet to only 37 percent (13-of-35), including 1-of-12 from beyond the arc, in the half.

Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) had eight points and eight rebounds, fellow junior Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) and sophomore Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) netted seven points apiece with freshman Leilani Beckham (Aldan, PA) dishing six assists for the Pride.

Katie Lytle had 23 points on 11-of-18 shooting with 10 rebounds, Elle Larsen scored 12 points and Kayla Moritzky totaled 11 assists for the Garnet (4-5), who shot 40 percent (27-of-68) overall.

Widener is on the road Saturday at Rowan, starting at 5:00 pm in Glassboro, NJ.
