Women's Basketball Routs Dickinson, 78-58, To Win Tip-Off Tournament

Widener won the Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament by crushing host Dickinson, 78-58, in the championship game in Carlisle, PA.

Widener (2-0) shot 54 percent from the field compared to Dickinson's 46 percent. The Pride also went 5-of-10 from beyond the arc and shot 78 percent from the line.

Dickinson (1-1) took an early six-point lead in the first half, but Widener clawed back with an impressive shooting spree to lead at halftime 41-24. The Pride kept control in the second half, and were able to take advantage of Dickinson's mistakes by scoring 28 points off of turnovers.

Named the Tournament MVP, senior Jen Egee (Ridley Park, PA), scored 19 points by shooting 7-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. The 3-point specialist, Egee also added three rebounds and two assists.

Junior point guard Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ) received all-tournament accolades along with Egee. Ferrucci scored a team-high 20 points, dished a team-leading five assists and went 12-for-14 from the free throw line.

Entering off the bench, sophomore Brianna Wylie (Mount Laurel, NJ) scored a career-high 19 points. Wylie was a factor at both ends of the court as she defensively added five rebounds, one block and one steal.

Only two points away from a double-double, junior Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) brought in 10 rebounds and scored eight points on 4-of-5 from the field. Fellow junior Kristina Reiter (Sewell, NJ) managed eight points going 2-of-2 from beyond the arc and defensively added three rebounds.

Widener will be back in action on Saturday at Cabrini for a 1:00 pm start.
