Dillon Fields' 25 Points Not Enough for Men's Basketball at Lycoming

(box score)

Sophomore Dillon Fields (Medford, NJ) continued his torrid play with a career-high 25 points, but Widener's rally from a 19-point deficit came up short in an 88-71 Commonwealth Conference setback at Lycoming in Williamsport, PA.

Down 50-31, Widener (5-14, 4-8 CC) refused to pack its bags as it went on a 15-1 run in under six minutes to close to 51-46 with 10:45 left.  Bob Makor (Philadelphia, PA) scored eight points in that span and fellow junior Connor Dean (Woodbine, NJ) capped it on a layup.

Held without a basket for almost seven minutes, Lycoming (13-6, 7-5) re-asserted itself with a 24-7 run in just over five minutes for a 77-55 lead with 4:11 to go.  Anthony Martin scored eight points in the run with Patrick Dougher adding five for the Warriors.

Fields was on a roll by shooting 9-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-7 from 3-point range.  His scoring bests his previous high of 23 points against Stevenson on December 8, 2012 and he is averaging 18.0 points over his last four contests.

Makor ended with 11 points off the bench for the Pride, who shot 48 percent (29-of-61) from the field and only 7-for-17 from the line.

Jerald Williams closed with a triple-double for the Warriors, totaling 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.  Michael Rudy scored 20 points with Martin, Chris Foreman and William Wingate adding 10 apiece for Lycoming, which shot 48 percent (31-of-65) from the field, hit six 3-pointers and was 20-for-23 from the stripe.

Widener on Wednesday visits Stevenson for an 8:00 pm start.
