Softball Drops Two at DeSales

(Game 1) / (Game 2)

Widener was handed a pair of losses, 9-4 and 5-2, up at DeSales in Center Valley, PA.
 
Sophomore Valarie Perretti (Clayton, NJ) had two hits and two runs for the Pride in game one.  Junior Jody Salvatore (Williamstown, NJ) rapped a double and Drexel Hill, PA junior Christine Mattis (6-4) pitched 5 2/3 innings for Widener (15-11), which could not hold a 4-2 lead and allowed seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Carly Bartholomew had three hits and Brittany Wilson (2-1) pitched three scoreless innings in getting the win for DeSales (9-15).
 
Salvatore in the second game had a double and scored a run.  Delran, NJ sophomore Jackie Korang (8-5) also had a double in the nightcap, but took the loss after yielding five runs - three earned - and seven hits over six innings for the Pride.

Rachel Vogel (2-3) gave up two runs and four hits over four innings for the Bulldogs.  Shelby Wilson closed with two hits and two RBI.
 
Widener is home Tuesday against Haverford, beginning at 4:00 pm.
