Vanessa Hejnas is Once Again a Force For Women's Basketball in 84-55 Victory at PSU Brandywine

Junior Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) continued her torrid play with 14 points in Widener's 84-55 triumph over Penn State Brandywine in Media, PA.
 
Widener (9-4) settled matters with a 21-3 run over seven minutes for a 25-8 lead midway through the first half.  Hejnas scored six points in that spurt with freshmen Courtney Colella (Cinnaminson, NJ) and Ally Ferrucci (Vineland, NJ) adding four apiece.
 
Hejnas scored 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the opening half, when Widener hit 43 percent (17-of-40) from the floor to open a 42-25 lead.  Hejnas now has scored in double figures 10 times this season.
 
Colella had 12 points and eight rebounds with junior Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) adding 10 and nine for the Pride, who shot 46 percent (33-of-72) overall and posted a 42-20 rebounding edge.
 
Cashae Hinton poured in 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, Shari Harper netted 15 and Amanda Congialdi added 14 for the Lions (4-9), who shot just 38 percent (18-of-47) from the floor.
 
Widener on Wednesday returns to Commonwealth Conference play at Elizabethtown, beginning at 6:00 pm.
