Seniors Lauren Brubaker (Newtown Square, PA) and Kim Dougherty (Belle Mead, NJ) each finished with three hits, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 9-5 win over Neumann in Aston, PA.
Dougherty opened the scoring in the top of the first with a solo home run, her fifth of the season. Widener added three more in the second, including a two-out, two-run double by Brubaker.
After Neumann scored once in the second and twice in the third to make it 4-3, Widener plated four in the top of the fourth. Senior Caitlin Callahan (Franklin Square, NY) laced an RBI single with two outs and stole second. Brubaker and Dougherty each followed with RBI doubles, and senior Steph Connolly (Aston, PA) extended her hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single.
The Pride (22-13) capped the scoring in the top of the sixth when Dougherty singled home Brubaker, who led off the inning with her third double of the game.
Freshman Jess Way (Marlton, NJ) finished with two hits and two runs scored.
Dougherty (8-5) recorded the win, striking out five over five innings.
Lauren Castiello had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored for the Knights (18-14), and Jennifer Goslin hit a two-run homer.
Widener on Saturday hosts Elizabethtown for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader, beginning at 1 pm.
