Men's and Women's Swimming Both Post Wins at Washington (MD)

Widener women's swimming team remained undefeated against Division III schools this season with a 101-95 triumph at Washington (MD) and the men posted a 111-76 victory in Chestertown, MD.
 
The women's fifth straight win again was highlighted by the standout trio of sophomore Kelsey Lake (Ijamsville, MD) and freshmen Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) and Laura Farrar (Longmont, CO). They combined for five wins and one school record for the Pride (5-1), who are 5-0 against Division III teams and snapped the Shorewomen's 59-match winning streak in non-conference meets.
 
Lake took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.19 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:17.91. Harris won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.57 seconds as well as the 100-yard freestyle in 54.01 seconds. Farrar grabbed the 200-yard IM in 2:18.81 and broke the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:29.75.
 
The men (4-2) saw senior Jesse Bregman (Oreland, PA) take the 200-yard IM in 2:05.74 and the 100-yard freestyle in 49.50 seconds. Senior Jim Senerth (Avon, CT) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:43.64, junior Jordan Mulligan (Dingmans Ferry, PA) grabbed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.55, sophomore Nick Girken (Baltimore, MD) took the 50-yard freestyle in 23.03 seconds and freshman Michael Lawley (Philadelphia, PA) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.26.
 
The men's 400-yard medley relay team won in 3:47.45 and was comprised of Lawley, Bregman, junior Sean Corcoran (Newtown, PA) and freshman Joseph Matarazzo (Drexel Hill, PA).
 
The Shorewomen dropped to 3-3 and the Shoremen are 0-5.
 
Widener will train in Fort Lauderdale the first week of January and does not compete again until January 22 at home against Elizabethtown.
