Widener once again got a balanced mix of great hitting and pitching in victories of 7-1 and 3-1 at Cabrini in Radnor, PA.
The Pride (19-13) in game one scored five times in the top of the sixth inning for a 6-0 lead. Stephanie Caulford (Vineland, NJ), fellow senior Katie Mitchell (Upper Darby, PA) and junior Kim Dougherty (Belle Mead, NJ) each had RBI singles in the frame.
Dougherty (7-7) made it seven victories in her last 10 decisions, yielding one run and five hits over six innings. She and Caulford each closed with two hits.
Liz Zimmer (5-8) was charged with seven runs and nine hits over seven innings for the Cavaliers (10-16).
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning of game two, Widener took the lead for good on a two-run double from senior Krista Cesarine (Ridley Park, PA). Caulford in the seventh inning added a two-out, RBI double for the final.
Cesarine went 4-for-4 for her third career four-hit game. Caulford and sophomore Kelsey Shultz (Parker Ford, PA) each rapped two hits.
Shultz (10-4) again pitched solidly, yielding one run and six hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts.
Cheri Johns (5-8) permitted three unearned runs and eight hits over seven innings.
Widener on Saturday visits Albright for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader, beginning at 1:00 pm.
