Women's Basketball Rolls to 65-35 Triumph in Season Opener Over Cabrini

Freshman Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) led three players in double figures with 14 points for Widener, which opened a 17-point halftime lead en route to a 65-35 victory over Cabrini at Schwartz Center.

 

Dellinger scored six points during a 10-1 run over the first 5 1/2 minutes.  Widener held Cabrini with out a basket over the first 7 1/2 minutes in racing to a 28-11 halftime margin.

 

Dellinger ended with 10 points in the first half for the Pride (1-0), who shot 43 percent (12-of-28) from the field and limited the Cavaliers to just 15 percent (4-of-27).

 

Freshmen Lil Carney (Narbeth, PA) and Francesca Lee (Hainesport, NJ) scored 10 points apiece for Widener, which shot 47 percent (24-of-51) overall and 7-of-15 from beyond the arc.  Dellinger, Lindsey Isler (New Hope, PA), fellow senior Rayne Reber (Pottstown, PA) and freshman Vanessa Hejnas (Delran, NJ) had six rebounds each for the Pride, who ended with a 50-23 margin.

 

Alyssa Brady scored 10 points with Laura Caron and Deana DiAmico adding nine apiece for Cabrini (0-1), which shot 22 percent (11-of-49) from the field and 3-of-24 from beyond the arc.

 

Widener on Tuesday visits Rutgers-Camden for a 5:00 pm start.
