4/15/08 -- Widener rapped 13 hits in the opener to post a 10-3 victory before Arcadia had 12 hits in the nightcap for a 3-2 triumph.
Widener (22-10) took the lead for good at 2-1 in the third inning when sophomore
Caitlin Callahan (Franklin Square, NY) rapped a two-run homer. Callahan also was on the spot in the fourth, ripping a two-run double during a four-run inning.
Junior
Rachel O'Leary (Coatesville, PA) lined a two-run double later in the fourth to give the Pride a 7-2 cushion. The squad added three runs in the sixth on RBI by freshman

Kelsey Shultz (5-2) gave up two runs and two hits over four innings with three strikeouts for Widener. O'Leary totaled three RBI and senior
Mallory Meyer (Lansdowne, PA) had three hits.
Jessica DeFluri (1-4) allowed seven runs – six earned – and eight hits over four innings with six strikeouts for Arcadia (12-15-1). Amanda Celentano hit a two-run homer in the second.
Game two belonged to Knights starter Kiersten Hughes (6-7), who retired 10 straight batters from the second through fifth innings. She permitted two runs and four hits over seven innings with two strikeouts and one walk.
Arcadia scored twice in the fourth for a 3-2 lead. DeFluri crossed home on a throwing error and Jaime Bee added an RBI single.
Danielle Discher had three hits for the Knights.
Meyer (9-6) gave up three runs – two earned – and 12 hits over seven innings with five strikeouts. Sophomore
Lauren Brubaker (Newtown Square, PA) lined a two-run double in the second.
Widener on Thursday hits the road to visit Delaware Valley, beginning at 3:00 pm.
