Widener suffered a 62-44 loss to Western Connecticut State in the consolation game of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament in Waltham, MA.
The Colonials (2-1) took control by ending the first half with a 15-4 run for a 37-21 lead. They shot 6-of-9 from 3-point range in the half and held the Pride to just 32 percent shooting (7-of-22) from the field.
Senior Beth Dessart Mager (Newtown Square, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) scored nine points and junior Rayne Reber (Pottstown, PA/St. Pius X) netted seven for Widener (1-2), which shot only 24 percent (12-of-50) from the floor and 3-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Katie Moffo poured in 14 points, Heather Lee netted 12 and Karli Spera had 11 for the Colonials, who were held to 32 percent (17-of-53) shooting from the field but were 8-of-13 from 3-point range.
Reber was named to the all-tournament team after closing with 19 points over two games.
Widener on Wednesday visits Neumann for a 6:00 pm start in Aston, PA.
