Bob Piotti

A 10-time Middle Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year, Bob Piotti is in his 24th season as head coach of Widener’s men’s and women’s swimming teams as well as the aquatic director.

Piotti joined Widener’s staff in 1987 and took over a swimming program that was a near last-place finisher in the Middle Atlantic Conference. He has built both programs to be among the most consistent frontrunners in the conference.

The 2010 men’s squad made it five straight championships for the first time in school history. Piotti was named Coach of the Year for the eighth time in the last 10 years.

The women’s team finished as the runner-up at the 2001 and 2003 championships and placed fourth in 2008.

Piotti in 2009 received the prestigious R. Kelso Carter Award, given annually to an outstanding U.S. citizen who has brought honor to Widener through his/her accomplishments and contributions to the University community.

Piotti has produced two All-America swimmers, LeeAnn Nurek in 1998 and Nicole Seward in 2003, and a first team Academic All-America honoree in Carrie Bassett from 1996. Piotti has had eight swimmers named the David B. Eavenson Most Outstanding Swimmer at the conference championships.

A 1977 graduate of West Chester University, Piotti received a B.S. in Health and Physical Education. Upon graduation, he served as the director of physical education at the Pilot School Incorporated for 10 years.
