Joanne Mullen

    Assistant Softball Coach

Joanne Mullen is in her sixth season as an assistant coach with Widener. A four-year starter at catcher and third base, Mullen in 1996 was named team captain as a senior. She led the squad that year with a .406 batting average, 43 hits, 23 RBI, 12 doubles and a .538 slugging percentage. Mullen that season was picked an All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Her athletic prowess is not limited to softball as she was a member of the swimming team, which captured the 1994 Middle Atlantic Conference title. Mullen coached softball three years at Radnor High School (2002-04) and basketball four years at the Sharon Hill Athletic Association (1998-2002). Mullen is a kindergarten teacher at the Interboro Kindergarten Academy. She previously taught first grade at Ardmore Avenue Elementary School in Lansdowne. She taught six years at Park Lane Elementary School in kindergarten and the first grade. Mullen graduated from Widener in 1997 with a BA in Humanities and in 2003 received a Master’s in Education.
